Privacy policy · 14 October 2026

Privacy, clearly explained.

Dating shouldn’t mean surrendering your private conversations. Here is what we collect, what others can see and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

PersuAsian is operated by PERSUASIAN LTD, incorporated in England and Wales (company number 17517699). PERSUASIAN LTD is the data controller for the personal information described in this notice.

Privacy enquiries, consent withdrawal, access or deletion requests: privacy@persuasian.co.uk. Other help: Support.

This policy applies to persuasian.co.uk and the PersuAsian mobile app, including services made available within the app. It does not make a feature available merely by describing how its data is handled.

2. Visiting the website

The website is intended to provide product information, safety guidance, contact details and legal policies. Its existing static design does not include a sign-up form, behavioural advertising trackers or a third-party analytics SDK. Fonts and pictures are delivered as part of the website. If those services change, we will update our disclosures before the new collection begins.

Website hosting and security systems, including Cloudflare, can process IP address, browser/device data, requested pages, timestamps and security events to deliver the site, prevent abuse and operate network infrastructure. Essential security technologies may be used even where optional analytics cookies are not. We do not treat all website traffic as anonymous.

3. The information we process

CategoryWhat it covers and why
Account and securityEmail address, authentication records, password credentials held by the authentication provider, account identifiers, sessions, security checks, account recovery, device identifiers and audit events. We do not need to know your password in plain text.
Age and eligibilityYour full date of birth, self-declared eligibility and, where offered, age-assurance status and limited verification case records. Members see your age, not your full date of birth.
Profile and preferencesDisplay name, photographs, biography, prompts, interests, languages, gender, relationship intentions, family/lifestyle details, dating preferences and profile visibility settings. Optional disclosures can reveal beliefs, ethnicity, sexuality or other sensitive matters.
Location and discoveryYour selected city and search/travel preferences, plus approximate city-to-city distance calculations. Our existing discovery model does not require precise live GPS tracking. A selected location is not independent proof of a person's whereabouts.
Connections and communicationsLikes, Passes, saved profiles, one-time Introductions, accepted connections, message contents or ciphertext as applicable, delivery/read states, encryption-device identifiers and necessary routing metadata. Access depends on contact permissions and blocking rules.
Photos, media and callsProfile and media uploads, edited/display versions, moderation results, encrypted attachments when used, and calling details when offered: participants, signalling, room and connection metadata, and microphone/camera permissions. The recipient can see media you choose to send.
Safety and supportReports, blocks, moderation decisions, appeals, fraud/risk indicators, selected evidence attached to a report, support emails, enforcement and access audit records. Only authorised reviewers should have access to restricted material.
PurchasesWhere a purchase is offered: product IDs, Apple/Google transaction references, subscription status, entitlements, refund/revocation records and related anti-fraud events. Card details are handled by the applicable app store, not entered into PersuAsian.
Notifications and diagnosticsOptional push tokens and preferences, delivery results, app version, device/OS details, service errors and security events needed to diagnose and secure the service. Private message text should not appear in push previews.

Some information is provided by you, some arises from use of the service, and some is supplied by approved service providers (such as a purchase or age-assurance result). We aim to collect no more than is necessary for each purpose.

4. Why we use information and our legal grounds

Different uses may require different grounds under UK data-protection law. We use contract where processing is necessary to provide your requested account, eligible discovery, contact choices and communications; legitimate interests, balanced against your rights, for proportionate security, fraud prevention, service continuity and abuse response; legal obligations where records or disclosures are required by law; and consent where an optional feature or disclosure requires it. We assess each use rather than treating acceptance of our Terms as consent to every activity.

Special-category information. Optional entries or inferences about religion, beliefs, ethnicity, sexual orientation or intimate life may be particularly sensitive. We use them for optional profile/discovery purposes only with the appropriate additional UK GDPR Article 9 condition, generally explicit consent where applicable, and suitable safeguards. You can choose not to supply optional information and can remove it or withdraw relevant consent through available settings or by contacting us. Some processing of report evidence may instead require a separate lawful condition; this is not a licence for general profiling.

We use discovery eligibility, your chosen preferences and visibility settings to determine which profiles are shown. We do not claim that a hidden AI compatibility score establishes whether two people are suited to each other. If a consequential safety or eligibility decision is made, you can contact us for a review or appeal as applicable.

5. What other members see

PersuAsian is a place for real people, thoughtful Introductions and contact by choice. Other members can see only the profile information available to them under your Discover, Search and Swipe settings, eligibility rules and applicable blocks. Your email address, full date of birth, account credentials and internal safety records are not intended as public profile fields.

Distance is an approximate calculation involving chosen cities, not a live map of your home or movements. Choosing a city does not verify somebody lives there. An accepted Introduction or mutual Like may open a conversation. A rejected or ignored Introduction does not give the sender another unsolicited attempt; blocking prevents fresh contact through the service.

You decide what to put in a public-facing biography or photograph. Please avoid publishing home addresses, financial details, real-time routines or information about other people without permission. Other members can remember, save, photograph or disclose information they can see; no platform can completely prevent this.

6. Conversations, encryption and reporting

Release-status disclosure (14 October 2026): end-to-end encrypted messaging, encrypted attachments and LiveKit calling had not been activated for ordinary members in the V8 release being validated. This policy explains how they are handled once genuinely available, without claiming that writing about them enables them.

Private contact is not a promise of invisible or unrecordable communication. A conversation is restricted to authorised participants and applicable safety processes. Where a chat is explicitly shown in the app as end-to-end encrypted, content is encrypted on participating devices and our service is designed to carry encrypted messages and necessary delivery metadata rather than ordinary readable message bodies. Device identity, keys and key changes may affect access to past encrypted history.

Do not assume that every conversation is end-to-end encrypted. Where the app does not clearly identify E2EE as available for that conversation, ordinary message processing may be needed to deliver content, enforce contact rules and address abuse. Encryption status depends on the actual signed application and the particular feature in use. No absolute confidentiality, anonymity or screenshot-prevention guarantee is given.

For safety reports, a participant may deliberately select and confirm messages, images or other evidence to share. If content was end-to-end encrypted, the selected evidence may be decrypted on that member’s device before submission and become readable to authorised reviewers. Reporting does not silently disclose a whole encrypted history. A recipient may independently keep or share content they receive, including via another device.

Where voice/video calling is offered, a calling service such as LiveKit and applicable device providers may process the minimum signalling, participant and connection information required for the call. Camera and microphone access requires device permission. No built-in call recording feature is promised. Any E2EE claim about call media applies only when separately supported and identified by the actual calling implementation; encrypted transport alone is not necessarily E2EE.

7. Adult assurance and verification

PersuAsian is for adults aged 18 and over. Age eligibility and identity verification are different. An Age Assured status indicates the applicable age assessment; an ID Verified status means that a separate identity-verification process, if offered, has been completed. Neither is a background check nor a guarantee of honesty or safety.

Where an external age/liveness/identity check is offered, the provider (which may include Persona) may collect verification images, device data, documents or liveness responses as described at the point of use. PersuAsian seeks to receive only the information necessary to manage the check, such as a result and case reference, rather than indiscriminately keeping biometric samples. The provider’s own processing, retention, location and data rights must also be explained before you undergo a check.

8. Service providers, recipients and international transfers

We do not sell your private conversations or sensitive profile fields to advertisers. We share information only where needed for the service you use, your choices, safety/legal requirements or other properly disclosed purposes. Other members see information allowed by your settings; authorised staff may see restricted report evidence when needed.

Our service architecture includes Supabase for authentication, data and protected storage; Cloudflare for the website; and Resend for transactional email. Depending on features actually used, Apple and Google may handle store transactions and platform notifications, LiveKit may support calls, and Persona may handle age/identity checks. A provider's inclusion in this notice does not mean a feature is switched on, mandatory or collecting data from every member.

Service providers must be subject to appropriate contracts, confidentiality and security safeguards where required. Providers and their subprocessors may handle data in the UK, EEA or elsewhere; where UK law requires an international-transfer mechanism, we assess and apply an appropriate one before transferring the data. We may also disclose information to competent authorities where legally required, to protect rights and safety where justified, or as part of a lawful business transfer with suitable protections.

9. How long information is kept, and deletion

We retain active account, profile, preference, relationship and communication information while needed to provide the service and as long as your account or the relevant feature remains active, unless you remove it earlier or a valid legal or safety reason requires a limited exception. Expired sessions and temporary delivery data follow their operational lifecycle; uploaded media may have separate derivative and cleanup tasks.

When you permanently delete an account, access is stopped and deletion is initiated for your profile, account-associated photographs, Introductions, connections and conversations, including the service's copy shared with the other participant where the product deletion flow so provides. Some file cleanup and backup expiry are asynchronous. Deletion from our service cannot withdraw messages or photos somebody has already saved elsewhere, or delete independently retained local ciphertext from another device.

We may retain a restricted minimum of report evidence, fraud/security records, accounting or payment records and legally protected matters for the time genuinely needed to investigate a case, meet a legal obligation, establish/defend a claim or respect a lawful preservation hold. Those limited records are not ordinary discoverable profiles. Backup copies expire under the applicable backup lifecycle; erasure requests are also tracked so they can be completed and audited.

We use purpose-specific retention criteria where a universal number of days would be misleading: continuing account/service need; record type and risk; applicable statutory periods; safety-case closure and appeal/claim windows; and technical backup/cleanup schedules. You can ask privacy@persuasian.co.uk for the applicable retention period or criteria for a particular category. See Delete your account. Uninstalling the app is not account deletion.

10. Your privacy choices and rights

Subject to the circumstances and legal exemptions, you may ask to access, correct, erase or restrict your information; object to certain processing; obtain applicable portable data; withdraw consent where relied on; and ask for human review of consequential decisions. We ordinarily respond to valid rights requests within one month, subject to permitted extensions and identity verification where justified. Exercising rights will not normally require a fee.

Use Me → Account & privacy for available export and account deletion controls; use Me → Visibility & privacy to manage Discover, Search and Swipe exposure. An in-app export may not include every record that would be considered in a formal subject access request. For privacy requests, email privacy@persuasian.co.uk and do not send your password, verification code or somebody else's private information.

If our response does not address a concern, you may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. You can report abuse through the app and contact safety@persuasian.co.uk; reports are not an emergency service. For immediate danger in the UK, call 999.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this notice to reflect material changes in services, verified providers, data handling or legal requirements. The date above identifies the published version. Where a change materially affects your privacy choices, we will give an appropriate notice or seek fresh consent where required before using information for the new purpose.
